On June 27, Austin's lower extremities became extremely swollen, and he experienced intense pain. He was quickly transported to a hospital two hours away. Upon arrival, Austin's condition rapidly worsened; he began having seizures, and his body started to shut down. At the first hospital, he was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. He received multiple units of blood, but his body was unable to properly process it. Since his condition was deteriorating, we knew we had to immediately transfer Austin to a larger hospital. We managed to move him to a children's hospital in Mbarara. There, he was diagnosed with osteomyelitis in both legs. Surgery was required to drain the infection. He was started on multiple antibiotics. His condition gradually improved, and his pain was finally managed. We are uncertain how long Austin will remain hospitalized, but we know he will need ongoing medical support for his lupus treatment. Austin is only ten years old and is fully orphaned. Hope Ministries Uganda is his only family. Would you prayerfully consider supporting Austin?
